SALAS
Chile (CHI)
Club River Plate Position Forward
Marcelo Salas was born on 24 December 1974 and so has just turned 23. Many see him as the natural successor to Chile's best striker, the great Ivan Zamorano.
Salas currently plays his club football for one of Argentina's most celebrated teams, River Plate, which recently turned down an offer of FF 100 million for Salas' services. Alongside Zamorano (who scored 12 goals during the qualifiers), Salas, who notched up 11, played a major part in Chile reaching the finals.
It's clear that he is set to become a huge star of South American and world football.

RONALDO
Brazil (BRA)
Club Inter MILAN Position Forward
Born on 22 September 1976, Ronaldo Luiz Nazario de Lima, who is a little over 21, is generally considered to be the best player in the world at the moment.
For the most part, his playing career has been in Europe, with PSV Eindhoven from 1994 to 1996, Barcelona from 1996 to 1997, and this season with Inter Milan. Ronaldo was part of the Brazilian squad during the 1994 World Cup but didn't play.
Since then he has become an essential part of the world champions' armoury, helping them to win the Copa America and more recently the Confederation Cup. He has also just been named the world's best player by FIFA.
