Netherlands-Yugoslavia - G. Hiddink: "We're not satisfied yet because we're ambitious" 27.06.98 19h17 CET Guus HIDDINK (coach)
"Firstly, I would like to say that I'm happy that the NETHERLANDS qualified for the last sixteenÂ… but we're not satisfied yet because we're ambitious, myself and my players. We watched the video of the MEXICO - NETHERLANDS match this morning. It was obvious how important it is to be alert and focused, above all during the moments when you don't think you're in danger. It's during those moments that you can easily lose your concentration, as we saw during the last 20 minutes of the match. Otherwise, I think we played well against MEXICO.
I think that the referee made some strange decisions, especially with respect to the yellow cards. That can disturb a team. I think that it would be better if the ten or twelve referees in the world participated in the World Cup, playing five matches each.
As for YUGOSLAVIA, I think they're a good team. They play a very compact game and they have players who are very strong - both technically and tactically. I knew some of them personally and I know that they are intelligent players. Our team has to play this match with a lot of concentration and motivation."
The NETHERLANDS team will arrive on Sunday at TOULOUSE's Blagnac Airport at 11h30. They will train at 18h00 at the Stadium; the session will be open to the accredited press and followed by a press call in the Mixed Zone.
