The opinion of the Yugoslav players on Germany

Ivica KRALJ (1):

"I very closely watched the exploits of the German strike duo, Jurgen KLINSMANN (18) and Oliver BIERHOFF (20) in the match against the USA (Group F) on 15 June. I didn't learn anything new about them. They're a truly exceptional pair. However, I think that our team can cope with them. We'll do our best to do just that."

 

Darko KOVACEVIC (22):

"GERMANY (Group F) played as expected of them, the players were very professional. Their fitness never flagged right up until the last minute. But we mustn't get a hang up about their game. We should think about our own football first then do our best to beat GERMANY."

 

Savo MILOSEVIC (17):

"I was really impressed by the GERMANY - USA match on Monday 15 June. In my opinion, it was the best so far in this World Cup. The Germans impressed me the most. They are very disciplined in midfield, their main strength. We will have to put a lot of things right if we want to match GERMANY. A draw would suit me fine. That would open the way to the second round."

 

 Dejan STANKOVIC (20):

"The Germans are the best, they know what they want, they are all over the pitch and it will be very hard to impose our game."

 

Vujadin BOSKOV, member of the Yugoslav federation executive committee:

"From the first matches, GERMANY seem to be the group favourites, but I don't think they'll play the same style in the next games. Jurgen KLINSMANN was excellent in attack. The captaincy obviously spurred him on. He was on the ball for every one of the 90 minutes; he took full advantage of the loopholes in the defence of the American team. His vast international experience was also very useful to him."
