Klinsmann links up with Matthaus in Germany friendly HELSINKI, May 25 (AFP) Jurgen Klinsmann and the man he replaced as Germany captain Lothar Matthaus link up in Germanys World Cup warm-up match against Finland here on Wednesday. The 37-year-old Matthaus earns his 123rd cap but first for three and a half years after patching up his long-running quarrel with Klinsmann, who will be winning his 102nd cap. Klinsmann is recalled after sitting out last months friendly against Nigeria.
"We have four world-class strikers but Im impressed most by Jurgen," said coach Berti Vogts. Oliver Bierhoff, whose 27 goals for Udinese this season won him a lucrative 12 million-dollar move to AC Milan, lines up alongside Klinsmann.
