Zubizarreta announces retirement

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Spain, May 16 (AFP)

Spains veteran goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta announced here late on Friday that he is to retire after this summers World Cup finals. The 36-year-old, who holds the national record of 123 international appearances, announced his decision after his club side Valencia went down 3-2 to Tenerife on Friday night. Zubizarretta, who formerly played for Alaves, Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona, will be appearing in his fourth World Cup finals.
