BREAK - EVEN
In keeping with the policy of transparency adopted in 1995, the French Organising Committee has just announced an up-date of its budget. The progression of the budget has been made possible by a considerable increase in our forecasted receipts. This, however, in no way alters our determination to keep a watchful eye and tight control over our expenses, bearing in mind that the success of FRANCE 98 would be marred if we did not achieve a break-even budget. This objective has been paramount ever since the outset of this fantastic adventure, and goes hand in hand with our ambition to lay on a World Cup worthy of France's international standing, as well as a real party for the entire French population.
