Won German league title (98), German Cup (96), East German Cup twice and was second top scorer in German league in 97-98 (21 goals. Top scorer Ulf Kirsten had 22)
One of two of the 22 German squad to have played for East Germany as well as the unified team. The other is Kirsten.
At the fall of the Berlin wall he left for Austria, no Bundesliga making him an offer. His coach at Admira Wacker Siggi Held took him to Dynamo Dresden after he scored 20 goals for the Austrian side in the 92-93 season.
Has never started for the national side. Will be fourth choice striker in France behind Bierhoff, Klinsmann and Kirsten.
Made his first international appearance in 94 when called on for last five minutes of match against Hungary. Recalled by Vogts in October '97 for the key World Cup qualifier against Albania (4-3). Came on in the 72nd minute and scored.
Only member of German league champions in the 22-strong squad.
Won four caps with East Germany. First cap as an 18-year-old against Ecuador. Waited two years for his next call-up and three more for his third.
